For every American citizen, 9/11 has a dreary place in their hearts. 6 years later, two tall towers in hip-hop will be duking it out on the billboard charts. One is being more humble than the hip-hop community might expect. Is he a shook one, soft, or just too big for that. Hmmm?

Recently (Thursday, July 19) 50 cent was on Hot 97 and had a few words about the release date switch by Kanye West--who pushed it up a week from the 18th to the 11th.

"I hope they see and understand what's getting ready to happen," he said. "I'm coming September 11. If Kanye comes that day, he comes that day. That'll be great. I think his people are smart, I think he's smart too ... I think they'll move [their release date]. But I'm coming September 11."
Awww sooki sooki now(!), as my mother may say, 50 is highly confident about his sales. I wonder if he knows that his popularity among hip-hop fans has diminished, with the presence of southern rap and the push for "real hip-hop." But most suprisingly, 'Ye is showing respect and taking the choice to be humble and promote friendly competition.
"I'd rather come out on a day like that, up against 50 — where people are excited about going to the stores and it's an event and people talk about it — and be #2 on that day rather than come out and be #1 on a day nobody cares about," West said. "It's about things going down in history. It's not that much exciting stuff in hip-hop right now. I think people are going to make it more than what I'm making it myself. At the end of the day, I'm making music and I'm trying to sell."

Now isn't that a beautiful thing. Could this be a step toward "resurrecting" hip-hop? I know that Nas would be proud, as well as my sister--who has almost given up on rap as a whole. Soon we'll see. On September 11, go to your local record, book, and mom and pops stores and cast your supporting vote and cop a disc... or two
